This is a church dress from the "Attic" series. It was inspired by church dresses used in church services in the early 1900s. Church dresses with lace panels on the skirt were worn as formal attire, especially for ceremonies such as baptisms. The top is made of high-density cotton cloth woven on a shuttle loom, and has plenty of gathers around the neck. The skirt is made of cotton river lace made by Cluny, the oldest company in the world. The distinctive lace pattern is a staple of Cluny, and is said to be based on tiles from before 1500. Cluny's lace is made of long-fiber Egyptian cotton and is intricately woven, giving it an elegant luster. It uses river lace made by Cluny, a British company. The lace has a pattern found on old tiles used in historic chapels in the west of England.
